<\/p>\n El 24 de Abril comienza el juicio contra los 17 activistas de Jobstown Irlanda. Todos son acusados de secuestro, une delito considerado muy grave y pueden recibir condenas muy severas. En noviembre del 2014, cuando Joan Burton hizo una visita a Jobstown, una centena de activistas la recibieron con una manifestación contra las tasas del agua. A pesar del carácter pacífico y la presencia de guardias de seguridad la vice-primera ministra no bajó de su coche. Fue meses más tarde que las\/los participantes en esta acción contra la tasa sobre el agua fueron arrestadas\/os.

En octubre del 2016, el primer acusado de Jobstown llamado a comparecer fue un adolescente de 17 años, que tenía 15 cuando los hechos. Fue considerado culpable. Su sentencia no fue excesivamente dura pero esa condena hace temer lo peor para las otras personas que pasan a juicio el 24 de abril 2017.<\/p>\n
En Euskal Herria conocemos muy bien lo que es la represión en el sentido mas amplio de la palabra. Por poner un ejemplo nuestro antiguo Secretario General Rafa Diez está en la cárcel por trabajar por un escenario de paz, justicia y libertad para Euskal Herria. Por poner otro ejemplo un grupo de trabajadores\/as fueron denunciados\/as por su participación en una huelga de trabajadores\/as donde se les pedían varios años de cárcel. Finalmente gracias a la lucha quedaron en libertad. <\/p>\n
Por todo lo expuesto el sindicato LAB expresa su solidaridad con los 17 activistas de Jobstown, y exige su inmediata liberación. No podemos permitir que se criminalice la lucha social y la legitima aspiración de un mundo mejor.<\/p>\n
Free Jobstown activists Upon the arrival of Joan Burton in Jobstown in November 2014, a hundred activists had prepared a «welcome committee». In spite of the peaceful aspect of the demonstration against, amongst other demands, taxes on water, and in spite of numerous security agents around, the vice-prime minister never left her car. Several months later, those having taken part against taxes on water were arrested.<\/p>\n In October 2016, the first Jobstown person to be tried was a teenager of 17 who was 15 at the time. He was found guilty. His sentence was mild, but his « culpability » makes the others, who will be tried in April 2017, fear the worst.<\/p>\n In the Basque Country we know very well the repression. For example our former General Secretary Rafa Diez, is still in prison for his work to get a justice, freedom and peace stage in the Basque Country. We had suffered another represion attack when some workers had a trial for their participation in one strike, and the prosecutor called for them some prison years. Finally the people’s struggle get their freedom. <\/p>\n For that LAB trade union from the Basque Country expresses its solidarity with 17 Jobstown’s activists, and called their immediately liberation. <\/strong>The trial of the 17 Jobstown activists charged with forcible « confinement » of the vice prime minister Joan Burton will start on April 24th. They are all charges with «forcible confinement» which is a very serious charge. All people arrested are faced with serious prison terms.<\/p>\n
